Proper DNA sample collection is essential for obtaining accurate and reliable results. Please keep each person’s swabs separate, avoid contamination, and follow every step carefully before mailing the samples.

Avoid Food, Drinks, Smoking, or Nursing

Refrain from eating, drinking, smoking, or allowing an infant to nurse for at least 1 hour before taking cheek swab DNA samples. Food, liquids, smoke, milk, and other contaminants may interfere with the DNA extraction and analysis process.

Do Not Touch the Cotton Tips

The cotton tips of the swabs should never be touched. They must also be protected from airborne pollutants and other DNA sources, including clothing, hands, or surrounding surfaces.

Air Dry the Swabs Properly

After collection, allow each set of 2 swabs to air dry for approximately 30 minutes in a clean, private area. Proper drying helps preserve the sample and reduces the risk of contamination.

Use a Separate Envelope for Each Person

Place each set of 2 swabs from one person into an individual clean envelope. Each person’s samples must remain separate and should not come into contact with any other moist envelope during storage or shipping.

Label Each Envelope Clearly

Write the donor’s name on the envelope containing that person’s swabs. Clear labeling helps keep the submitted samples organized throughout the testing process.

Important Note About Identification

For personal reasons, some people may choose to write any name they want on the envelope. We have no control over this. We test samples, not names.

Place each pair of swabs in different envelopes (parent / child), then place the two smaller envelopes inside the larger envelope and mail it to the address specified in the instructions.

Step 4 Analysis of your samples in our laboratory

Once we receive the samples, we will send you an email to confirm the reception of the samples and proceed to perform the DNA test in our laboratory . You can follow up online at any time using your unique access code to know the progress status of the DNA study.

Step 5 - Receive your results.
Receive your certified results by email, usually about three days, after your samples arrive at the Lab.

Main points to consider:

1) Do not eat, drink, smoke or chew gum for 30 minutes before collecting samples.
2) The swab tips should not come into contact with any surface other that the inside of the cheek at any point before, during or after collection
3) Move the swab up and down while also rotating. It's very important to rotate the swab with your fingers.
4) Allow the swab to dry before storing. At least one hour.
